One of the longest running commercial audition workshops in the city, this intensive one-day workshop will give the actor the essential skills and attitude needed for excelling in commercial auditions. Pamela has been teaching this popular workshop for over 10 years. Pamela knows first hand how the biz works and where you will fit in to the world of marketing. Ms. Wise is currently a lifestyle and print agent with Premiere Talent.
She will explore the audition process from the point of view of the actor, casting director, and creative heads. Her approach stresses naturalism and confidence in developing the actor. She quickly establishes how you will be perceived in commercials and hones in on those typecasts to create a framework to make dynamic choices for the audition.
Pamela will be joined in the afternoon for some on-camera work and Q and A with Casting Director Sean Milliken, Casting Director for such projects as "The New Addams Family", "Baby Genuises" and "School of Life". Sean has also currently cast over 1000 commercials, spots including Bud Light, Alberta Ford, Visa and Home Depot, among others. Sean originally studied acting at The Neighborhood Playhouse with Sanford Meisner, working professionally as an actor before moving into the world of casting. He brings perspectives from both sides of the business to this very valuable workshop for actors.

Don’t miss this chance to work with veteran Voice-Over artist and improviser Alan Marriot. This one day intensive will cover a lot of details regarding the world of Voice-Over acting and will give actors a chance to practice the craft hands on with guidance from Alan.
Students will learn:
o Microphone technique
o Different energy states in commercial VO reads (ie: natural, hard sell/elevated, humorous, story teller, sexy, etc)
o Rhythm and inner tempo
o Breaking down a VO script
o Animation voices:
§ Pitch
§ Tonal placement
§ Speed
§ Character gesture
- Students get hands on experience with a pro studio, large capsule microphone
- A small hard disk recorder will be on hand to allow students to record, hear and improve their reads.
Alan Marriott has been a working Voice-Over artist since 1980. Starting his career at CKOR in Penticton, Alan soon moved to Vancouver and began working in the basement of the Grosvenor Hotel for CJOR, as an on air operator for the likes of Rafe Mair and Pat Burns. Moving to London, England in 1984, Alan attended LAMDA and then moved into voice work as a commercial and animation voice and is most well known as the voice of Scoop in ‘Bob the Builder’.
He has worked in every facet of voice work from commercials, audio-visual to ADR and background as well as countless video games and animation. He has starred in over 15 cartoon series, guest starred in many more and worked for every major UK animation house. Commercial and promo work includes spots for Warner Brothers, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and MBNA Credit Cards. Alan has done a number of radio plays for the BBC including ‘Batman – the Lazarus Pool’ (with Michael Gough), ‘Galahad at Blandings (with Ian Carmichael), and ‘Dr. Who – Murder in the Limelight (with Colin Baker).
Since returning to Vancouver last year, Alan has had leading roles in ‘Lionelville’, and ‘The Litltle Reindeer’ and guest appearances in Geronimo Stilton, Martha Speaks, Hot Wheels and Dinosaur Train. Most recently Alan can be heard across the country in a series of radio ads for Honda and is the voice of GLAR in the animated feature film from Sony, Planet 51.
